We Believe

                                         ARTICLE X. ARTICLES OF DOCTRINE

1. We believe in the Scripture of the Old and New Testaments as the supernaturally inspired Word of God, and inerrant in the original writings, and that they are the supreme and final authority in the faith and life. II Timothy 3:16, 17; II Peter 1:21; Jeremiah 1:9; Psalm 119:89

2. We believe in one God eternally existing in three persons, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Genesis 1:1; Isaiah 48:16; Matthew 3:16; II Corinthians 13:14

3. We believe that Jesus Christ was begotten by the Holy Spirit, and born of a virgin, and is true God and true man. Luke 1:35; Matthew 1:18, 19

4. We believe that man was created in the image of God; that he sinned and not only incurred physical death but also that spiritual death which is separation from God; and that all human beings are born with a sinful nature, and in the case of those who have reached moral responsibility, become sinners in thought, word and deed. Romans 3:19, 23; Romans 5:12; Ephesians 2:1 – 3,12

5. We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures as a representative and substitutionary sacrifice, and that all who believe in Him are justified on the grounds of His shed blood. Romans 4:25; Romans 5:16, 18; Ephesians 1:7; I Peter 1:3 – 5

6. We believe in the resurrection of the crucified body of our Lord, in His ascension into Heaven, and in His present life there as our High Priest and Advocate. Acts 2:32; I Timothy 2:5; I John 2:1

7. We believe in that blessed hope, the personal pre-millennial, and imminent return of our Lord Jesus Christ. Acts 1:11; I Thessalonians 4:16, 17; II Thessalonians 2; Titus 2:13

8. We believe that all who receive by faith the Lord Jesus Christ are born again of the Holy Spirit and thereby become the children of God. Ephesians 2:8, 9

9. We believe that every born again person has been baptized by the Spirit into the Body of Christ and therefore has the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. I Corinthians 12:13

10. We believe that every believer in the Lord Jesus Christ has still an old and sinful nature which wars against the soul. Romans 7:15, 25

11. We believe in the eternal security of all born again souls. John 10:28, 29; Romans 8:35 – 39; I Corinthians 1:4 – 8; I Peter 1:5

12. We believe that all the saved are called into a life of separation from all worldly and sinful practices. James 4:4; Romans 12:1, 2; II Corinthians 6:14; II Corinthians 7:1

13. We believe in the bodily resurrection of the just, and the unjust, and the everlasting conscious punishment of 

the lost. John 5:28, 29; John 11:25, 26; Revelation 20:5, 6, 12, 13

14. The Ordinances of this church are Baptism and the Lord’s Supper. The mode of baptism (immersion) is to be administered to all who have accepted Jesus Christ as their Savior. Matthew 3:16; Matthew 28:19; I Corinthians 11:24, 25

15. We believe in the personality, reality, and power of Satan, who ultimately will be cast into the lake of fire. Revelation 20.10; Matthew 4:2 – 11

16. We believe that marriage is a divinely instituted unconditional covenant between one man and one woman. It is our conviction that since God has clearly defined gender in the Scriptures, we cannot redefine what God has established. We believe one's biological gender cannot be reassigned. We also believe that the covenant is to be protected in all love and faithfulness thorough all of life; that a Christian is at liberty to marry who he or she will, "only in the Lord", i.e., another Christian; and that sexual activity is to be sanctified as the exclusive expression of love and joy between the marriage partners. We oppose homosexuality, adultery, all fornication and unscriptural divorce.
